2nd annual toy and fundraising drive to benefit the Children of Jamieson Center's Foster Care program.

Alpine Christmas Trees is proud to support worthy organizations in our community. One of these events is the 2nd annual toy and fundraising drive to benefit the Children of Jamieson Center's Foster Care program.

The event involved closing off 18th street, west of Mill Creek to host a 50's car show, carnival game booths, live music as well as DJ music. and lots of friendly conversations. Food, dancing, and of course a raffle with dozens of prizes – including an Alpine Christmas Tree.

Everyone present seemed to have two things in common; first, they think the world of Anabel Noj, co-owner of Dice and Dolls and event sponsor; second: they don't want the children of Jamieson Center to feel left out during this holiday Season.

According to Chris Maretich, owner of Alpine Christmas Trees, “we participate in, and support events like this because frequently that is where we meet the best people in Kern County. Our community is only going to be as strong and healthy as we work to make it. Yea, I wish we could do more – and we can – with the help of others.”

The event organizer, Anabel Noj, seemed to be two or three places at once all day long. But she still managed to offer a refreshing smile and to remind us this is the second annual Toy Drive benefiting the Children of Jamieson Center's Foster Care Program. Her demeanor assured us that this is a very worthy cause deserving our attention and support.

Leaving nothing to chance, Anabel suggested that Dice and Dolls could still receive toys and donations for the kids of Jamieson Center until Monday evening. She encouraged anyone who was able to help to deliver toys and donations to Dice and Dolls, 608 18th Street. Or they can call Anabel at 661-348-3106.

Marie Rizo – President of Classic Dreams Bakersfield Car Club, and some of her members. They will do this all over again, Sunday, 12/2 to benefit the Ronald McDonald's House at Memorial Hospital.

Ryan Tucker – spins music for a hobby –  he has a collection of 50 to modern music.

Anabel Noj – Event organizer.

Anita and Jess; “We may not look like Santa Claus – but for these kids, we sure can work like him... to help the kids of Jamieson Center.”

Gaona Family – Bakersfield. They each weighed in on question: “Helping the kids at Jamieson Center more fun than...” dad: going to Disney Land; Mom: doing laundry; brother: watching mickey mouse on tv; daughter: “ it is more fun than being left home alone.”

Sugar Daddy's – the featured band to perform from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Chuck, the spokesperson and band member, said: “This was an easy one for us. We are from Orange County, but that didn't seem much distance when we thought about the people we would be helping. We build time into our schedule so we can do benefits like this one. We are all parents – so we are committed to doing events and activities that help kids.” Find the Sugar Daddy's on Facebook if you didn't happen to be at the concert Satuday night.
